Emerging Defence Challenges: DP International meets Gusty Graas

In this context, and ahead of the critical NATO summit happening later this month, DP International  hosted an open exchange on defence and foreign policy with MP Gusty Graas.

Meet Gusty Graas

A seasoned parliamentarian, Gusty Graas plays an important role in shaping Luxembourg’s foreign and security agenda.

He serves as Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, External Trade and the Greater Region, and chairs the Subcommittee on European Affairs. He also represents Luxembourg internationally, including as Vice-President of the country’s delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Open Dialogue on Security

The meeting offered DP International members the chance to exchange views in a candid roundtable setting. Mr. Graas emphasized the value of DP International and shared in-depth updates on Luxembourg’s defence posture and its positioning on key global issues:

  • Luxembourg’s Defence Commitments – Luxembourg is stepping up its contributions to European defence, amidst a changing geopolitical reality, and the country is set to fulfil its 2% commitments by end of year.
  • War in Europe – Mr. Graas reaffirmed Luxembourg’s unwavering backing for Ukraine’s sovereignty and right to self-determination.
  • War in the Middle East – The conversation also addressed the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, and Luxembourg’s commitment to peace and a two-state solution.

Our members brought in personal perspectives and engaged deeply throughout the meeting.
