Since its renewed leadership in late 2024, DP International has been steadily working toward its founding purpose: strengthening the connection between international residents and Luxembourgish politics. Guided by the belief that national prosperity thrives on diversity and collaboration, every step we take is rooted in that vision.
One such step was the Political Engagement workshop held on July 4th, hosted by Secretary Camelia Pavel and Board Member Maximilian de Pauw Gerlings. The session offered practical insights into political participation, with a particular focus on using social media and personal outreach to connect with others and inspire change.
Maximilian, who led the social media segment, opened the event with clarity and poise, demonstrating a thoughtful and confident presence that stood out, especially for someone just 17 years old. Having lived in Singapore and several European countries, he brings a global perspective that enriches our work. His interest in politics was first sparked at age seven in France, influenced by his grandmother’s civic engagement. By August 2023, after seven years in Luxembourg and active involvement in youth political initiatives, Maximilian was ready to take a larger role.
Around the same time, Christos Floros, now President of DP International, was becoming increasingly active online, advocating for broader, more inclusive political participation. Their shared values and commitment to civic engagement naturally brought them together, and shortly thereafter, Maximilian joined the Democratic Party.
His contributions since then have been notable. From representing at international forums like Model United Nations LUXMUN to supporting grassroots movements such as Change for Luxembourg, Maximilian has built up both a strong foundation and a willingness to act. Yet it is not only his résumé that sets him apart, it is his initiative. Time and again, he has stepped forward without waiting for an invitation.
That same spirit defines DP International’s renewed direction. When we restructured, we did so with a clear principle: to welcome participation from all who are ready to contribute. Members are not only invited but encouraged to bring ideas forward and help shape their own roles through action.
Today, Maximilian serves not only on our extended board but also as Engagement Lead, directing DP International’s social media presence. His path is emblematic of the culture we’re building, one where initiative is valued, contributions are celebrated, and participation is the way forward for everyone, regardless of age or background.
