Jessica Klopp, long-time section secretary and very active in the community, and Sven Bindels, long-time section chairman and local councillor, will lead the DP list together in the campaign for the local elections on 11 June.
This decision was taken unanimously at the most recent meeting of the DP Mamer Committee. The DP Mamer welcomes all people who identify with the values of the Democratic Party, regardless of their gender and sexual orientation, to integrate them into the political work and to give them responsibilities as soon as possible.
It is thus important for the DP Mamer to strengthen the participation of women in political decision-making and to work towards ensuring that they are in all circumstances on an equal footing with men. Although the DP Mamer did not succeed in presenting a parity list for the municipal elections, despite considerable efforts to do so, it can count on four experienced and highly committed candidates: Graziella Di Fabio, Marie Kirch, Jessica Klopp and Sylvie Zangerlé, married Klopp. Moreover, the DP Mamer can count on very competent members in the municipal decision making bodies, such as their vice-president Sonja Schintgen.
The DP Mamer will continue to work to convince more women to get involved in politics and to promote the presence of women in committees and commissions.
