The DP Gemeng Mamer is calling for a local service for elderly citizens

Who can clear the snow from in front of my house? Who can help me look after my garden? I’ve got lamps to replace or heavier things to move: who can I call?

For elderly or dependent people, it’s often difficult to find help quickly for minor household chores. That’s why the DP Gemeng Mamer is calling for a local service for our elderly and dependent citizens.

At the local council meeting on 22 January 2024, local councillors Jessica Klopp and Sven Bindels tabled a motion to this effect.

The CSV/LSAP majority did not wish to put it to the vote, but the DP councillors were able to get the aldermen’s council to continue to analyse this issue and to explore whether such a service could still take off in Mamer.

The DP councillors also obtained a reduction in the age limit for applying for grants for elderly fellow citizens. This age limit will be reduced from 75 to 65 years.

The DP Gemeng Mamer is committed to creating the conditions to enable our elderly fellow citizens to lead a pleasant and independent life in their own homes for as long as possible. We will be following this issue closely.
