The health of forests in Luxembourg

The health of trees in Luxembourg has deteriorated significantly. DP MPs Gilles Baum and Luc Emering asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity whether concrete projects are underway to counteract the deteriorating health and resilience of the forests and where these are taking place, what is planned to massively replant and compensate for the loss of trees and whether organisms such as the bark beetle can cause less damage due to the wet autumn and winter.

Question

„D’Resultater vum leschten Inventaire phytosanitaire 2023 vun der Natur- a Bëschverwaltung hu gewisen, dass 14,5% vun de Beem komplett gesond sinn. 2013 waren et nach 33,8%. An 2023 gouf och fonnt, dass 12,3% vun de Beem scho souzesoen dout (déperissement avancé) oder wierklech dout sinn, wat immens beonrouegend ass. De Gesondheetszoustand vun de Beem zu Lëtzebuerg huet sech staark verschlechtert. Extrem Wiederkonditioune kënnen dozou féieren, dass d‘Entlaubung vun de Beem méi fréi an der Saison geschitt. Zum Beispill haten déi anormal waarm an dréche Fréijoren a Summeren tëscht 2018 an 2020, 2022 an 2023 en Impakt op d’Gesondheet vun de Beem.

Lëtzebuerg huet den 12. Juli 2023 en neit Bëschgesetz adoptéiert fir d’Bëscher nach besser ze schützen a gläichzäiteg eng sanft Exploitatioun z’erméiglechen.

An deem Kader wollte mir dem Här Minister fir Ëmwelt, Klima a Biodiversitéit follgend Froe stellen:

– Wéi eng konkret Projete lafe fir dem verschlechternde Gesondheetszoustand an der verschlechternder Resilienz vun de Bëscher entgéintzewierken? A wéi enge Regiounen oder Gemenge lafen déi Projeten?

No access to biological results in the LëtzHBM study?

As part of the LNS study ‘LëtzHBM’, biological and environmental samples are collected to determine the presence of chemical substances in private households. The results of the biological samples, unlike the environmental samples, are not systematically communicated to the participants.
DP MP Dr Gérard Schockmel has asked the Minister of Health why these results are not communicated and whether this is compatible with data protection regulations.

How long are the waiting times at the “Travel Clinic”?

If you are travelling to tropical regions, you can get advice and be vaccinated against various diseases at the CHL’s “Travel Clinic”. However, the waiting times at this clinic are currently said to be quite long.
DP MPs Dr Gérard Schockmel and Gilles Baum have asked the Minister of Health how many patients have been seen at the “Travel Clinic” over the last ten years, how waiting times have developed over this period and whether it would not make sense to make it possible to book appointments online, as is the case with many other CHL services.
