The DP has long advocated for a more individualized taxation system. The reform, which is anchored in the coalition agreement, is now finally being launched – a development we wholeheartedly support.
This unified approach to taxation will make life fairer: for the young single starting out in their career, for the couple planning to start a family, for the single mother, and for the person facing life alone after the loss of a partner.
The new simpler system will allow everyone to better plan their lives and will reflect the diversity of our society. No particular lifestyle or personal situation will be favored. And importantly, no one should have to fear falling into financial hardship simply because of a change in tax class.
The key elements of this tax reform, presented today in the Chamber’s Finance Committee, continue the clear and consistent line that the DP has followed in this area for years.
Major reforms require vision – but also the right moment to be put into action.
The goals of this tax reform are:
- a unified tax class for all,
- significant administrative simplification,
- a long transition period to ensure no one is left at a disadvantage.
Our children must be at the heart of this societal reform. That is why the DP supports all efforts to go beyond individualization and provide additional support for families with children.
Because this is about the future.
