Steady Course and Targeted Investment in the Future During Challenging Times

The parliamentary group of the Democratic Party today presented a review of its work during the 2025/2026 parliamentary session. Together with his 13 fellow MPs, Parliamentary Group President Gilles Baum looked back on an intensive year shaped by the continuing impact of a tense international environment.

Despite these ongoing challenges, the Government and the MPs of the parliamentary majority have succeeded in keeping Luxembourg on a stable and secure course. Gilles Baum highlighted that substantial financial resources have been mobilised over the past 12 months to provide tangible direct and indirect support to both citizens and the national economy.

Throughout the past parliamentary session, the DP parliamentary group’s work focused on three key priorities: purchasing power, housing, and the environment. These priorities are also clearly reflected in the recent national Tripartite agreement. For the liberal parliamentary group, the measures adopted are not merely crisis-related expenditures, but essential investments in the country’s future that will strengthen social cohesion over the long term.

Looking ahead, the DP parliamentary group remains both determined and realistic. Luxembourg will continue to face significant challenges in the years to come. The party’s MPs are committed to addressing these challenges with dedication, expertise, and a firm commitment to the values that define the Democratic Party.

Speaking to the press, Gilles Baum once again underlined a core principle of the DP’s parliamentary work: only a healthy and competitive economy can generate the resources needed to finance a strong and effective social model.

“In times of crisis, the people of Luxembourg have been able to rely, and continue to rely, on the DP’s work in Parliament,” Baum concluded. “We stand for a socially liberal policy that serves our country and its people: a courageous and optimistic approach that believes in Luxembourg’s future and in the potential of its citizens.”
