New pharmacies for the North?

An investigation by the Competition Council into the pharmaceutical sector shows that Luxembourg has a low number of pharmacies compared to the OECD. The Council is therefore proposing the creation of new pharmacies to fill the geographical gaps. DP MP André Bauler asked the Minister of Health whether there are already considerations to create new pharmacies in the north of the country and which criteria are decisive for the creation of new pharmacies.

« En juin 2022, le Conseil de la concurrence a publié une enquête au sein du secteur pharmaceutique. Le Conseil indique dans son rapport que le Luxembourg a l’un des ratios les plus faibles parmi les pays de l’OCDE quant au nombre de pharmacies par rapport à la population. Afin de pallier au moins les lacunes géographiques, le Conseil propose quelques communes et localités avec un certain potentiel d’implantation.

À ce sujet, j’aimerais poser les questions suivantes à Madame la Ministre de la Santé :

  • Comment le Ministère de la Santé se positionne-t-il par rapport à la proposition du Conseil de la concurrence de créer des pharmacies dans les communes de Beckerich, Tandel et Weiswampach ?
  • Le Ministère a-t-il déjà engagé des pourparlers avec les édiles communaux concernés sur l’opportunité de mettre en place une officine sur leur territoire ?
  • Outre la localisation géographique et les distances à parcourir par les clients, quels sont les critères décisifs qui motivent la création d’une pharmacie ? »

Will a second PET-CT be purchased ?

The former Minister of Health had announced that a second PET-CT could possibly be purchased in order to shorten the waiting time for patients. DP MPs André Bauler and Carole Hartmann have asked the current Minister of Health where the preparations for the purchase of this second PET-CT are at, whether this machine could possibly come to the hospital in Ettelbrück and how the number of treatments in this area has developed over the last 10 years.
