How are the municipal coat of arms handled for fused communes?

Several communes that have merged in the past have given themselves a new municipal coat of arms after their fusion. Other communes rely on a municipal logo to showcase their identity. The heraldic commission of the Ministry of State supports the communes in this procedure. MP André Bauler asked the Ministry of State which communes have changed their coat of arms or logo over the past years and what is the procedure to do so.

„Verschidde Gemengen, déi zanter 1970 fusionéiert hunn, hunn sech am Laf vun der Zäit – am Respekt vum modifizéierte Gesetz vum 23. Juni 1972 betreffend déi national Emblemer – en neit Wope ginn. D’Commission héraldique vum Staatsministère – déi aus unerkannten Experten op dësem Gebitt zesummegestallt ass – beréit d’Gemenge bei der Kompositioun vun engem aktualiséierte Wopen. E Wopen ass net nëmmen eng Traditioun, déi esou al ass wéi eist Land a seng Gemengen selwer, ma en ass och ganz wesentlech fir enger Fusiounsgemeng hir kulturell Identitéit ze schäerfen.

Vill Gemenge ginn sech dann och mëttlerweil e Logo, fir hir visuell Identitéit no baussen ze kommunizéieren. E frëschen, professionellen Optrëtt ass hautdesdaags fir d’Gemenge vun grousser Bedeitung, ma et gëtt etlech fusionéiert Gemengen, déi sech trotz dëser Entwécklung en neie Wope ginn hunn, dat ënner anerem fir hir kulturell Eegenaart z’ënnersträichen an op hir eege Geschicht hinzeweisen.

Virun deem Hannergrond wollt ech dem Här Staatsminister folgend Froe stellen:

  • Wéi dacks ass an de leschte Joren déi heraldesch Kommissioun zesummekomm, fir fusionéiert Gemengen an deem präzisen Zesummenhang ze beroden?

Answer

Over the past years, the heraldic commission has convened twice namely for the communes of Tandel and Schengen. A commune can propose an idea for a new coat of arms, however the heraldic commission can also make a proposition. Contrary to the coat of arms, a logo allows for all colours to be used. It can also be chosen by the municipal authorities and doesn’t have to pass the heraldic commission.

Do rapid diagnostic tests help against antibiotic shortages?

France is considering only allowing antibiotics to be prescribed if a rapid diagnostic test is carried out beforehand. This would make it possible to determine with certainty whether the infection is bacterial or viral.
This could on the one hand counteract the lack of antibiotics and on the other hand reduce antibiotic resistance.
DP MPs Gilles Baum and Gusty Graas asked the Minister of Health how many antibiotics have been prescribed in Luxembourg in the last five years and whether doctors should be made more aware of prescribing diagnostic tests.

Is therapeutic housing being commercialised?

Therapeutic housing is currently offered by approved outpatient psychiatric services to people suffering from mental health problems.
Rumours are now circulating that the Ministry of Health is planning to entrust the management of therapeutic housing to a commercial company.
DP MPs Gusty Graas and Gilles Baum asked the Minister for Health whether these rumours were true and, if so, why this course of action was being pursued rather than supporting the existing players in approved outpatient psychiatry.
