How many people in Luxembourg have changed their name ?

The law of December 2020 made it easier to request a change of name or surname. How many people have changed their names in 2021 and what are general reasons for these requests? Our MPs Max Hahn and Carole Hartmann inquired at the ministry.

« En décembre 2020, la Chambre des Députés a voté la loi sur le changement du noms et des prénoms et portant modification de la loi modifiée du 8 mars 2017 sur la nationalité luxembourgeoise.

Dans ce contexte, nous aimerions poser les questions suivantes à Madame la Ministre de la Justice :

  • Combien de demandes pour changement de nom ou de prénom(s) ont été soumises en 2021 ?
  • Á combien de ces dossiers le Ministère a-t-il pu donner une suite favorable ? Pour quelles raisons les autres dossiers ont-ils été refusés ?
  • Quelles sont les catégories et raisons pour lesquelles les demandes de changement de nom ou prénom(s) sont introduites ?
  • Depuis l’entrée en vigueur de la loi, y a-t-il eu des demandes de changement de nom voire de prénom liées à une modification de la mention du sexe du requérant ou de la requérante ?
  • Dans l’affirmative, combien de demandes de ce type ont été introduites ? Ces demandes ont-elles pu être favorablement accueillies ? Dans la négative, quelles étaient les raisons de refus émis ?

Qu’en est-il de l’interconnexion entre les différentes administrations publiques ? Est-ce que toutes les modifications sont transmises aux différentes administrations dès leur entrée en vigueur ? »

How many women are released from work during pregnancy?

DP MPs Corinne Cahen and Carole Hartmann wanted to know from the Minister of Health, among other things, how many women are exempted per sector, how often an employer has objected to a dispensation and on the basis of which specific criteria occupational physicians decide on a dispensation.

Should the LNS and private laboratories work closer together on biopsies?

The LNS, which has a monopoly in this area, has taken a number of measures to counteract the long waiting times for the evaluation of biopsies.
DP MPs Mandy Minella and Dr Gérard Schockmel have asked the Minister of Health what impact these measures have had on waiting times and whether greater cooperation with private laboratories should be considered in order to further reduce waiting times.

No more reimbursement for dermatoscopic photos?

As part of a dermatologist’s examination, photos can be taken of suspicious skin areas where there is a risk of skin cancer developing. DP MP Gusty Graas has now been informed that these photos will no longer be reimbursed by health insurance. In a parliamentary question to the Minister of Health, the liberal politician would like to know, among other things, why this decision was made and how many patients have been reimbursed for such photos taken by dermatologists in the last five years.
