How many social plans have there been in recent years?

Companies in economic difficulties in Luxembourg have the option of negotiating a job protection plan with the social partners to avoid layoffs. DP MPs Corinne Cahen and Carole Hartmann have asked the responsible ministers how many job protection plans have been negotiated in the last ten years and how many social plans have been implemented in the same period.

Question

« Les entreprises luxembourgeoises qui rencontrent des difficultés économiques, et qui risquent de devoir licencier du personnel, ont la possibilité de mettre en œuvre un plan de maintien dans l’emploi afin d’éviter le recours à un plan social.

Un plan de maintien dans l’emploi peut être mis en place soit à l’initiative des partenaires sociaux, soit par le Comité de conjoncture si celui-ci enregistre cinq licenciements non inhérents à la personne sur une période de trois mois ou huit licenciements sur une période de six mois.

Il s’agit d’une mesure à caractère anticipatif qui vise à éviter un plan social et donc des licenciements et à proposer des solutions alternatives, comme la préretraite-ajustement.

À ce sujet, nous aimerions poser les questions suivantes à Messieurs les Ministres :

  • Combien de plans sociaux y a-t-il eu au cours des dix dernières années ?
  • Combien de ces plans sociaux ont été lancés pendant la durée d’un plan de maintien dans l’emploi ?
  • Combien de ces plans sociaux ont été lancés après l’échec d’un plan de maintien dans l’emploi ?
  • Combien de plans de maintien dans l’emploi ont été mis en œuvre au cours des dix dernières années ?
  • Combien de salariés ont bénéficié de la préretraite-ajustement au cours des dix dernières années ? »

Reusing the heat from data centers ?

With the development of AI, the demand for computing capacity continues to increase. In several regions of the EU, the heat generated by data centers is already being used to heat public or private buildings.

Our MPs Corinne Cahen and Luc Emering have asked the concerned ministers whether there are any similar projects or plans in Luxembourg to sustainably reuse the heat from existing data centers, including that from the Meluxina supercomputers.
